The last few years has seen the rise of Chicken Lips from a new and unknown act to a name that seems to appear on the wish list of every quality dance producer, DJ and label in the land. Andy Meecham and Dean Meredith have come along way since there commercial success with Bizarre Inc in the early nineties and now sit in position as one of the most popular remix/production duos around, they have remixed for the likes of Underworld, FC Kahuna, Playgroup, Stereo MC, Mo'Wax, Justin Robertson & Stylophonic to name but a few. They have also picked up a number of quality remixes of there own material along the way and this album is a showcase of ten of the best.
The tracks on the album are drawn from vinyl only single releases of Chicken Lips and Sir Drew (Andy's solo project) and bring such names as Silicone Soul, Justin Robertson, Medicine8, Peace Division, Sieg Uber Die Sonne, Maurice Fulton plus others. The styles vary from wigged out house to deep techy tribal cuts all with that distinctive Chicken Lips lick here and there.
The album is the culmination of the "Re-Echoed" single series which has seen tracks from the debut Echoman album cut to 12" for the first time along with new remixes. These singles will be re-promoted around the release of the album along with a selection of earlier vinyl cuts featuring the various mixes.
As well as holding a heavy remix schedule Chicken Lips have also been Dj'ing extensively across the UK Europe including playing for Space and on the Jockey Slut tour.
The Lipstudio has been revamp recently and the lads are shortly to begin work on their third artist album which will be featuring vocals for the first time.
Also on the Lips agenda is a mix compilation for NRK's Nitelife series, a project that almost didn’t happen after Dean had his records lost by an airline just days before he was due to do the mix. Records were eventually returned and the mix is the eclectic blend you’d expect from the Stafford boys.
